  1. Sorry I missed your reply! I haven't had a noise problem with the T98 4/sp in my TA since I had it gone through a few years back. Had the low/reverse slder, bearings and the synchros replaced. The synchros probably suffered from the old GL-5 oil or maybe just age! It was the first rebuild for the trans since we bought it in 1972. I bought Valvoline semi-syn 80-90 oil and will change it out. While the Valvoline is rated as GL-5, Valvoline 'claims' the GL-5 in their gear oil is the non-corrosive additive that eats the brass trans parts.

    Since the picture, the hood has been re-welded to strengthen stress areas. The insulation is Brown Bread - an less expensive version of Dynamat. I've used it before for years without any issue. It's not for looks. It's done a considerably good jb with engine noise. Noe if I could make the transmission quieter.
