    Default spark plug to distributor

    Is the connecting sequence and position the same for a 73 scout II and a 76 scout II?

    Put new wires on 76 and followed book for 73 and then it wouldnt start. Went to my 73 scout to check that I had them in correct order and I did.

    Started with the number 2 wire right on top of the vacuum advance and went from there.

    sorry, guess engine specs would be helpful, 76 304 but the 73 is the 345. Chiltons I have for the 73 shows wiring the same for both engines.

    The wiring is the same, but you still have to time it off of the number 8 cylinder. You can't go by where the vacuum advance can is to place the wires, because the distributor can be inserted so that the rotor could point to any cylinder. You MUST find TDC for number 8, then figure out where the rotor is pointed, and start from there. 18436572, but not timed off number 1 like most V8 engnes.
