    Default 68 scout 800 / 266 V-8

Looking to purchase a 1968 scout 800 with a 266 small block, 4 speed and single stick transfer case.
I currently own two 1966 scouts with 152 ci. engines and twin stick transfer case with 3 speed trans.
My question is, How is the 266 as far as power and customer satisfaction and availability of parts? And does that year scout normally have a single stick transfer case with a 4 speed trans. I want a stock drive train.
Looking to buy this one and possibly sell the two other projects.
The owner said he thinks it has dana 44 axles, is that stock?

The 266 is a good engine, excellent for a scout sized vehicle.
The front axle on a 68 scout should be a Dana 30. The rear would be a Dana 44.
The transfer case was changed to a single stick at about that time. I can't remember exactly when. I was thinking mid 68, but that's an impression, not a fact.
The 3 speed is the same as the one in the early scout, but the input (front, to engine) shaft is different. Both the 3 speed and a (T18) 4 speed were stock options that year.
