    Default Oil Capacity

    Could I get the oil capacity for 345ci Scout. 77 model
    Just had oil change they put in 5 qts. It reads over full.

    6 quarts including the oil filter. You may have the wrong dipstick. An extra quart will not hurt. The factory released a tech bulletin advising those driving at highway speeds should add an extra quart. This is due to the high volume oil pump that was standard on SV engines. The loadstars did not have this problem due to the 10 quart oil pan, but a scout has a smaller capacity.

    Oil pressure spec is 10-20 psi at hot idle using straight 30 wt. A rough rule of thumb on a warmed up engine is 1 psi for every 100 rpm.

    If you're not churning the oil and you have good pressure, you're fine.

    Thanks for the info. I may add a qt of lucus as the valve train has a tic sound. Truck did sit up for a while.
