Thread: can a cam froma 393 fit into a 196?

    Default can a cam froma 393 fit into a 196?

    if i were to buy a new CAMshaft for my 196 but the cam is from a 392 will the cam work or will it not because its from an 8cylinder?

    Different cam. Would still work if the firing order of the left bank of cylinders was the same as on the 392, but it's not the same.

    The cam for the 266, 304, 345, and 392 are the same. You can still buy the cam kit from Napa. The 196 you may have to have reground, but the cost is about the same. I don't know if you can still buy them.

    thnks, im rebuilding my 196 and i all i could find was new 392 cams.
