    Default Hole in Block

Hello everybody! I am new to the forum. I have a Scout 800B built 11/1970. I am currently tearing down the engine and have found a hole in the block that I am not sure is supposed to be there. Picture attached. Hole is at back of engine under the tappet cover. Can anybody comment?

    Default Hole in block....no problem!

That hole (or a variation of it) is in all IH engines, it's to give the oil a place to drain back. Since it's so rough and jagged looking, it sure doesn't look factory, but every IH engine you look at has it.
