    Default Temp guage issues

Hi how can I tell if my temp gauge or sending unit is faulty? It just reads C all the time.

And where is the sending unit located?

    Thanks!

If you are reading C all the time, it is bad or the sending unit is bad. The sending unit is either at the back on the engine on the drivers side or on the front (same side) by the water neck...

While your problem may well be either the sending unit or gauge, on these old beasts it is often the wiring/grounding/connections.

    Could luck finding the gremlins.

The sending unit is in the front of the engine, next to the thermostat housing. You can ground the sending unit wire on some part of the engine and then turn the key to the left (Acc. position) for a few seconds. If the water temperature gauge comes up to "H" on the gauge, the gauge and wiring is ok. Replace the sending unit.
