    Question 727 transmission re-assembly

I have a 79 scout I just bought with the tranny needing to be put in. I was double checking that I have all the parts and am a little confused. Does the Automatic transmission(which I have) need an output shaft bearing or is that just for the manual tranny?

    Default 727 transmission re-assembly

It should have an output shaft bearing, at the end of the tail shaft housing where the transfer case bolts up. It won't slide in and out of the tail shaft housing, it's in there, but you should be able to see it. If it's missing, kick yourself, because those are not easy to find. I think one of the vendors (don't remember which one though) was coming up with a replacement bearing using a sleeve and different bearing to replace the no-longer-available stock bearing.
