    Default transmission kickdown

So if I am at a steady 30 mph and I floor the gas it doesn't downshift and accelerate quickly. Is the kick down mechanical or vacuum? 79' 345 auto. Sometimes it does happen but lately not so much.

The shift is mechanical. The kick down linkage is hooked to the throttle linkage, and it acts like a throttle position sensor. When you hit the gas, it raises the shift point. When you let off, it will shift at a lower speed. The adjustment is done by changing the length of the linkage.
