    Default 192 CI Tune-Up Specs (1967)

Hi, I searched this forum for timing, ignition and also 196ci and 3.2L with no luck. What I’m looking for is the point gap and timing spec (and picture of marks or pointer to a picture) for a 196 ci Scout motor. It says “Comanche” on the valve cover and on the distributor it has a “Holly” logo. I have found at NAPA a FA86 cap will fit this distributor. The tab to keep the distributor cap in place is broken so the cap moves. This motor is in a Classic reproduction car not a Scout. Very little information available from collectors site and the company is long gone. It is a Scout motor however about 1967. Any help will be appreciated by the tune-up gods! / Jay

Dwell should be at 68 degrees since it's a 4 cyl w/Holley distributor. You can gap the points at about .019 and get in the ball park.

Plugs are Autolite 85. Plug gap is .030".

Timing is 4 degrees BTDC., best lean idle, 650 rpm.

    Thanks Alan / J

I can find the marks for timing I'm sure. Are they in 2 degree increments?

Also I assume you disconnect vacuum to distributor. Yes?

5 degree increments. You'll be able to see that as you remove the crud from the marks.

Block the vacuum line so that the carb does not suck vacuum. On the 67, it may be manifold vacuum. Same story, need to plug that line when you set the timing.
