Default 1976 Scout II in Southern Californa

I just got a 1976 Scout II without an engine or tranny. Does anyone know of a place where I can get my Scout worked on in Southern California? I am looking for a place that is Scout friendly? Any guess of what this will cost?

    Well... that all depends,

    A. Are you looking for rebuilt? Or original engine + trans.
    B. Are you looking to stick with authentic IH engines? 304 345 392 etc ?

Your looking at quite alot of money id think.. if ur looking for rebuilt ih engine and trans but who knows.

If the 76 will need to be smog checked, verify the replacement engine is a CA smog specd engine with all the add ons required for emissions. For a replacement V8, either the 304 or the 345, as the 392 engine wasn't available in the Scout II.
What part of So CA is your location?

Oh i didn't even think of that.. and i live in Cali too. How much did u pay for it? If it was under a grand.. i would suggest maybe just wanna start looking for a smog exempt scout and use the one u have for parts for it. You might save money + time + hassle on the long run.

Just my 2 cents, i dislike smog rules
