    Exclamation dist. cap

    1970 scout 800a
    196 cid

i need a new dist. cap and rotor and plugs and wires, but before i start on that, i was asked if the distributor was a holly or delco (if thats right), so i go and look for id markings and the only marks that are on the dist. are IH and a code # 21 and some other numbers, patent pending numbers, same thing on the inside near the points, there is a C.C.W stamped in there, but nothing else...any ideas?

here is a couple pictures from Napaonline.com. Just by going with the pictures it looks like the Delco Cap screws onto the distributor. Could always just take your cap into the store and have both caps pulled from the shelf and then compare.

    holley Cap

    Delco Cap

Prestolite Cap if you happen to have

    hope this helps.

    Default distributor

Other way to tell between Holley and Delco is that the Delco is cast iron.
